Joss Whedon
For some reason, networks have a serious problem with letting Joss Whedon finish a storyline. Hell, for that matter, they seem to have a problem with letting anyone who's ever worked with Joss finish a storyline (see Fox's cancellation of Drive, starring Nathan Fillion and Amy Acker).
Even though I'm upset over losing yet another series with Mal and Fred, hope does spring! Dark Horse Comics has released "Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8", with the first five pages of the first issue online. Just these five pages have sparked my interest, especially with news of "Angel Season 6" being slated for release. Fortunately for me, I'm a little late to the game and missed the initial offering of Buffy, so while others are bemoaning the set-up contained in the first two books leaving them high and dry until the pay-off in books three and four, I'm arriving just in time for book three to be released on Tuesday.
So, tomorrow I'll be calling my local comic shops and checking to see who has the series in stock. Once I have the book in my hot little hands, I'll spill my guts on what I think of the writing, layout and artwork. So here's my shopping list: Buffy Season 8, books 1-3; Serenity; and the Buffy Omnibus first issue. Damn you Joss. I'd finally gotten out of comic books.
Update: Buffy #2 has come in on order, still waiting for #1. Sent my copy of #3 to my brother for his birthday and had to order a new copy. *sigh* Issue #4 will be out before I even read the first one =P
